About me

My Story

I've always loved babies and been in awe of pregnancy. Answering the call to be a doula has been a lifetime in the making, starting with sitting at the feet of my pregnant aunts, mothering my little sisters and cousins, to studying the human experience of disease in our bodies while obtaining a degree in anthropology, and culminating with my own pregnancy and birth of my son. I love serving people and sharing the excitement of others' birth.

Milk and Honey Doula and Birth Services offers birth, postpartum, and bereavement doula services. The name recalls the Promised Land described in the Book of Exodus:  a place of abundant richness and pure excitement which follows a journey of hard labor- much like pregnancy, labor, and the birth of a child. The name is also a symbol of our natural world and the work honeybees and animals that results in sweet, comforting milk and honey.

My Philosophy

I believe in the right to informed consent, respecting bodily integrity and personal autonomy, dignity in birth, the mind/body connection (that birth is more than a physical process) and healing after bereavement.
